How to protect your data?

1) Have strong passwords

• Do not share your password with anyone.

• Use a different password for each account or device.

• Change your passwords periodically (every 3 months, for example).

• Always click the "Exit" button when you are no longer browsing a website.

• Avoid using your work or bank account passwords on social media (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram or Twitter, for example).

• Create passwords with at least eight characters to ensure greater security. You can also mix upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters (#, @, *, &, %, _ or -).

• Do not disclose personal data on websites you do not know.

• Never share sensitive information on unknown or suspicious websites.

-

2) Use secure networks

• Avoid shopping using a Wi-Fi network that you do not know or trust, such as public Wi-Fi networks, Internet cafe networks, airports and hotels.

-.

3) Buy online safely

• Choose well-known sites where you or your friends have shopped before.

• Search the website's user reviews to choose where to make your purchase.

• If you have any doubts, call the store and check if it has an address, landline or physical branch.

• Read the Privacy Policy of the company where you are going to make your purchase.

• Check the available payment methods, delivery time and the Product Exchange and Return Policy.

• Be wary of very low prices and unusual gifts.

How to avoid scams?

1) E-commerce Website

• Make sure the website is real: there are fake websites created to deceive customers, who after making payments, do not receive the purchased goods.

• Be wary of promotional emails, discount ads and search engine ads with very low prices.

• Before providing payment details, make sure that the address displayed in your browser corresponds to the website visited.

• Avoid accessing e-commerce sites and making purchases from third-party computers.

• Check that the e-commerce site uses a secure connection (https), as all transmitted data will be encrypted.

-

2) Pay attention to the price

• Research and compare prices. If they are much lower than market prices, be suspicious.

-.

3) Prevent identity theft

• Identity theft can cause financial losses, reputational damage and a great deal of effort to reverse the problems caused by the theft. The best way to prevent it is to prevent third parties from accessing your personal data. The less information they have about you, the safer you will be: on the Internet, less is more.

-

4) Signs that your identity is being used

• Receive responses to emails that were not sent by you.

• Receive notifications that your email account or social media profile has been accessed at unusual times or places.

• You notice transactions on your credit card statement that were not made by you.

• Receiving telephone calls, correspondence from credit protection agencies or emails regarding matters that are not within your knowledge.
